In Sierra County, three miles northeast of Camptonville on the snowline between Oregon Creek and the North Fork of Yuba River on the Sierra Turnpike (Downieville Turnpike). The hotel was built in 1849 by Peter Yore, and the family operated the toll road to Downieville when it was opened in 1857
