Leland Pauly told a story about how children played croquet on the lawn of the Forest Service Complex in the 1930s and 1940s because it was the only flat place in town. The idea took root, and in September of 2003, Camptonville's museum had its first-ever "historical reenactment" event. Gary Bowman, principal of Camptonville School, provided the music, residents dressed in period costume, and everyone played croquet. |
