A Roll Model for All Who Knew Him"

In Honor of Frank Meggers

Frank Meggers lived his later years in Paradise, California. When he died in 1993, his friends and neighbors honored his life by placing a plaque on a favorite tree of Frank's in the front yard of his house. Below is the text, in part, of a letter sent to Leland Pauly on this occasion.

"Dear Leland,

"Several months have passed since I talked to you about the ladder Frank Meggers crafted in Camptonville in 1920. It is now safely protected in our museum here in Paradise. The feeling is that if you ever get your museum built and have room for the 16' ladder, you are welcome to it. Frank loved both Paradise and Camptonville, but I feel a big share of his memories were of his time there."

"I had a brass plaque made for the tree in his front yard. Enclosed is a photo of it and the friends and neighbors when we dedicated it. The new owners said they will respect the tree."

"Regards,
Dave Olson"
