Long Bar is in the Washington Mining District in Nevada County, just above the mouth of Scotchman's Creek, a tributary to the South Fork of Yuba River. According to Doris Foley, a local historian of Nevada County, it was a camp in 1849 and listed in in Nevada County Mining Records.

This was quite a long bar, two miles from Foster Bar. It derived its name from its length and was named after a Long Bar near Marysville. There were fifteen Chinese working there in 1879.
