CLARIFICATION

Hi Folks,

In the April 2009 issue of the Camptonville Courier in an article titled Update: ARRA 2009, I stated Yuba County had bypassed Community Block Development (CDBG) Grant funding coming from the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. This was incorrect.

Debbie Phillips Yuba County Service District Manager has assured me, "Yuba County is doing our best to get all the funding we can." and Supervisor Hal Stocker (5th District Yuba County) agrees.

Debbie Phillips also had this to say, "The funds you are referring to are 'Entitlement' funds and are generally a lesser amount of money than the competitive CDBG funds that the County applies for. The County can and does apply for up to $800,000 per year plus $70,000 in Planning and Technical Assistance grants.

"Yuba County has been very successful at being awarded these funds for many years. We apply annually for housing rehabilitation, first time homebuyer and senior nutrition access card programs. We receive anywhere from $300,000 - $500,000 per year for these programs, where the entitlement program can receive one half or less than that amount."

Your voice counts,
